Training Lunchtime Leaders
Objectives
To train Year 6 pupils to deliver basic activities using ‘Huff & Puff’equipment at lunchtime therefore improving behaviour and reducing supervision issues at lunchtime.
Outline
4 primary schools from within a cluster came together within the local secondary school and took part in training involving approximately 60 children and 4 lunchtime supervisors. This was conducted over 2 sessions each lasting 2 hours.
Feedback
The coaches who worked with the students were very professional, knew their subject well and provided the students with an excellent opportunity to improve their leadership skills, leading by example all day. The session was informative, engaging and enjoyable for the Year 6 students who left the day fully prepared to lead activities from football to handball on their playgrounds.
Progression
The cluster has now led by example, sharing good practice across the NWSSP with other schools now fully engaged with the Year 6 Leadership programme.
